The Memphis Shirt - Beale Street Blues

 

To coincide with the Australian premiere of Baz Luhrmann's biopic, “Elvis” movie, David Smith Australia has released the Memphis Shirt. 

 

On our last visit to Memphis , we took a wonderful photo of Beale Street, Memphis, the home of the blues in the USA, and created a unique men's shirt to capture the spirit of Beale Street.

Baz Luhrmann had spent a considerable amount of time with Hal Lansky of Lansky Bros in Beale Street, Memphis researching for the Elvis movie.

Lansky Bros is where Elvis first started to shop as a 16-year-old. Hal and his father Bernard first dressed Elvis and continued to dress Elvis throughout his career. 

Elvis was often asked where he got his clothes, Elvis always  told them,  ‘At Lansky’s on Beale!’ Lansky Bros encouraged Elvis to wear Pink, inspiring men to wear Pink across the world.

I have been fortunate to create numerous Elvis-inspired men's shirt designs to be sold exclusively at Lansky Bros.
